This Direto na Fonte features Professor Rodrigo Ribeiro de Sousa, from the public administration course at the Faculty of Applied Sciences (FCA) at Unicamp, who talks about scandals in public administration, such as the recent case of fraud at the INSS. Since 2019, retirees and pensioners have had unauthorized deductions made from their salaries, totaling an embezzlement of approximately R$6 billion reais. For the professor, patrimonialism is the main but not the only cause of the recurrence of scandals of this type in the public sector. He sees social control of institutions as one of the necessary actions to prevent future fraud.
