Labeurb holds “Journey to Invent Possible Worlds, Cities and Popular Technologies”
Labeurb promotes the Conference “Inventing possible worlds, cities and popular technologies”

The Urban Studies Laboratory (Labeurb) will hold, on the day May 21, in its auditorium, starting at 9 am, the Conference “Inventing possible worlds, cities and popular technologies”, with a special program dedicated to debating how collectives, social movements and cooperatives have created supportive technological alternatives in urban territories.

In the morning, the Street Talk with leaders from the Señoritas Courier Cooperative, the MTST, the Contrate Quem Luta platform, the Campinas and Region Community Federation (FCCR) and the Tainã Cultural Center seeks to bring together universities, civil society and social movements in a space to exchange concrete experiences of popular appropriation of technology. Based on these experiences, the goal is to reflect on ways to build more sustainable, safe and supportive cities, with alternatives for mobility and decent work.

In the afternoon, the TecnoPopular Workshop will take place, aimed at community leaders from Campinas and the surrounding region. The workshop will present basic notions of programming, design and creation of solidarity technologies, focusing on experiences such as the Señoritas Courier platform and the Contrate Quem Luta app. The aim is to show how technologies can strengthen local economies and political organization in the territories.

60 places will be offered, 30 for FCCR leaders and 30 for other participants in the event.

Registration is free and can be done on the website. https://www.labeurb.unicamp.br/site/web/evento/detalhes?id=61

Labeurb is located at Rua Caio Graco Prado, 70, on the Unicamp campus, in Barão Geraldo, Campinas (SP).
